HR 2454 and a National Climate Service

SCH087Rain Rain Go Away! Lots of rainfall in the northeast for June. Is this high precipitation related to global warming? The EPA did predict in proposed CAA Section 202 (a) findings that global average temperatures would increase resulting in extreme and intense weather events. Is the rain in the northeast indicative of an extreme weather event? Not sure. However, soon there may be a more accurate predictive service.

HR 2454, Section 452, expands NOAA’s National Climate Service to develop climate information, data, forecasts and warnings at national and regional scales and will allow for the deployment of such information and related climate impacts to state and local decision makers.

Maybe this service will be able to link high precipitation in the eastern US and drought in the southwest to global climate changes.
