What does hydrogen fuel technology have to do with global warming?

j01827601Hydrogen fuel technology produces energy from water (H2O) The technology introduces an electric current in water to separate hydrogen from oxygen. It is expensive to do but once the hydrogen is derived from water, or even biomass, it can power a fuel cell which is another word for a battery; this type of battery can run an electric car.

NASA has been using the technology on space craft since the Atomic Age.

“By combining hydrogen fuel with oxygen, fuel cells can produce plenty of electric power while emitting only pure water as exhaust. They’re so clean that astronauts actually drink the water produced by fuel cells on the space shuttle.”

The only byproduct is water, no CO2. If someone could figure out a way to bring down the cost of production and deal with safety issues for mass production, hydrogen fuel would be great source of mobile fuel.
