December oil futures are at $80. What does that mean for alternative energy projects? It means that oil future investors think oil consumption is going to increase and oil prices will rise. When oil prices rise most energy projects become more cost effective to pursue; oil exploration, difficult extraction areas, and alternative energy projects look more promising when profit margins increase. Increased energy demand coupled with new carbon dioxide regulations will put alternative energy projects on the horizon again.
